BMW Dnepr / external oil filter

The front motor attachment bolt with the original BMW frame is in its own mounts underneath the frame tube, while with the Dnepr the bolt is in the middle of the tube.

That means the following procedure with each change of the oil filter :

  • remove final drive
  • remove front engine bolt
  • disconnect the electric under the fuel tank
  • lower engine

Substantially this procedure is simplified by using an external oil filter with a Citroen 2CV cartridge. A further advantage is the lowered oil temperature provided by the long oil hoses. (You have to insulate them in winter)
